Forum for Counsellors and Psychotherapists is an unincorporated organisation. A not-for-profit group run for, and by, its members. Forum membership is mainly drawn from the geographical areas of Shropshire and mid-Wales, although others come from further afield.
Forum was established in March 1994 and was originally called the Association for Counsellors in General Practice. The name was changed to reflect the diverse nature of today’s membership. We are a lively and vibrant group of therapists who work in a wide range of settings. Committee members – now called the “Events Team” – volunteer their services and our low membership fee reflects our aim to be inclusive and accessible.
Forum’s primary role is to provide high quality workshops, usually three times a year, on a range of topics. Recent topics have included attachment, working with trauma, gestalt psychotherapy, neuroscience, biographical counselling, existential counselling and mindfulness. We go to some trouble to find knowledgeable and skilled facilitators and usually aim for a mix of theoretical input as well as the opportunity to learn through participation. Our workshops are well attended, highly rated and affordable. We welcome suggestions for future workshops from our membership and have on occasion used members to run workshops.
Come and join us, you will be very welcome. As a member you will be able to attend some valuable and very reasonably priced workshops.
